We are a group of seasoned, professional, and reliable musicians. As a Chicago band we take pride in what we do. We have a playlist of 60's, 70's, and 80's music. Together we have over 25 years of musical experience. Let's talk about how we can work together to showcase an entertaining event that everyone will enjoy. After all, we play the Music you grew up with, or wish you had!
"JOHNNY B" BROCKMANN
My passion for drumming started in the Air Force in the late 60's.With my Air Force band I soon learned, as did the Blues Bros, what it's like to play behind a chicken wire fence in the wild west town of Rapid City,South Dakota.Left my drums behind to continue my education, get married and start a family. Now, 40 years later, the family is grown and the drums are back.Played with one group for about a year and a half and now have a group of my own. It's great to be a part of "The Generation Gap"- a talented group of musicians, all enjoying playing great Classic Rock tunes...
As he says, " I'm Irish....we have to sing. It's a heritage law!"
Singing his whole life, he spent 20+years as a DJ and Karaoke host. (Clubs, Bowling Alleys,Wedding Receptions,Graduation Parties,Block Parties, etc). He has been a soloist for weddings as well with a killer version of "Ave Maria". He finally decided to join bands five years ago. He has a love of percussion : Bongos, Congas, Tambourine, shakers and anything else he can shake to "annoy" the audience! (Little tyke car keys attached to a hand mixer, discarded dental fillings in a coffee can, meteorite shards on glass, and ball bearings.) His Influences are Elvis Presley, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Gerry Marsden, The Everly Bros, Iva Davies(Icehouse), Tom Johnston(The Doobie Bros), Mark Lindsay, Mike Smith(DC5), Chuck Negron(Three Dog Night), Dean Martin, Todd Rundgren, Dennis Yost, to name a few....
He began his guitar lessons at the North Center Music School in Chgo in 1963 at the age of 8. He was part of forming a band in grade school which stayed together till the junior year of high school. After that he was brought into another band which stayed together till high school graduation. His music lessons continued till the age of 19 when he had to quit in order to work full time..He continued to play with musicians in the chicagoland area for a few more years before raising a family..He kept up his playing at home delving into more Blues and Jazz but always has enjoyed the classics and "Good Old R & R"...He met his friend Tom (the GGB keyboard player) and since has joined us and is having the time of his life playing with the GGB and their fans!!!!
Started Playing at the age of 14 in a band called the Unknowns. After a four year stint with the Marine Corp he turned to playing with a band named Monster for 5 years playing at places like The Thirsty Whale, The Purple Onion, Mothers, and many others in Olde Town. After that he was with a band called the Floyd Freeze Band for 5 years playing the Honky Tonk circuits in Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin and at a lot of festivals. His next band was a two part adventure starting out as Beginnings End and ending up as the Neil Stone Band, 80's and newer music and female fronted for ten years. Finally, the last band was Underkover, another female fronted, diverse musical band performing music from the 60's thru the 2000's. Now he is moving in a new direction playing with the Generation Gap and very excited about the project....
I picked up on the Piano and Keys in the late 80's, mostly because I have always been a poet and lyricist and wanted to put my words into song which ended with some success. At this same time I worked with a group of talented musicians and singers performing mostly R&B dusties and we also had a Motown review show. With the responsibilities of family, children and also running my own pest control business for 20 years, my music ended up on the side burner. In the past few years I have come back with a passion to play, so here I am, with a group of very talented guys playing the music I love!!
